VCS Plans to Return to In-Person Learning January 13

January 10, 2021

Hello VCS Family:

It is our desire to have a safe return to in-person teaching and learning on Wednesday, January 13.  In order to do so, we are encouraging parents to contact their child’s school if the student was exposed to COVID-19 last week; has tested positive within the last ten days; or has any symptoms/signs of illness. If you have any questions about whether or not your student should return to school, you can contact your local health care provider, your school’s nurse, and/or refer to the VCS Daily Health Assessment flyer which can be found on the Valdosta City Schools’ website.

It is important to note that all VCS COVID-19 mitigating measures, such as requiring all students and staff to wear a mask or a face covering, will be continued. Please refer to the VCS Reopening Plan if you have questions. However, we understand that there may be some who continue to have reservations about allowing their student to return to in-person learning on January 13. Please contact your child’s school or your child’s teacher this week to share your concerns or to request your student(s) remain a virtual learner.

It is very important that our scholars continue with the same degree of dedication and motivation to learn remotely or in-person as they have exhibited since school reopened in September. Teachers and administrators have been very pleased and are counting on them to finish this most unprecedented school year exhibiting their best efforts possible.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience, and we are looking forward to a successful second semester as we all continue to manage the ever-changing demands and restrictions of COVID-19. We are all in this together to ensure a successful, productive, safe and healthy completion of the academic year.

Sincerely,
