Fortunately, we have planned for this scenario and are ready to quickly make the transition. We will begin the virtual learning model for all grade levels on Monday, December 14, and running through Thursday, December 17. Students and staff will have Friday, December 18, off to begin our regular winter holiday break.
Each school will work with their students and families explaining how the virtual learning model will work for their classrooms.
We will offer virtual meal sites Monday through Thursday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the following sites: Pinevale Elementary, S.L. Mason Elementary, W.G. Nunn Elementary, and Valdosta Middle School. Choose the site most convenient for your family and remember we will need your student’s name and lunch ID number. These four locations and our Central Office also have external internet access points. For anyone without internet access at home, they may bring their device to download school assignments from the parking lot.
Please know that we are taking this action to protect the health and safety of our students, staff, and families. Our hope is to be able to return to in-person learning when we return from the winter holiday break on January 6, 2021. This will depend on the status of COVID-19 and the guidance we receive from our local, state, and national public health officials.
The district and schools will have staff in our buildings on Monday, December 14, through Thursday, December 17. Remember, details about early dismissal and this transition to 100% virtual learning will come directly from your students’ school(s).
